Oceanview Cache 89

By: robotman (and brownie troop 89) Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

I can imagine the realtor's listing now...'fixer-uper with great potential, or tear down and start new'. I'll be somebody would buy it sight unseen! ...well, probably not in today's economy. I enjoyed the views and the chance to soak in the warm late afternoon sun on a beautiful day. Thanks for placing a cache here.

Rockaway

By: ViaPac4 Sasq-Cache Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Small

Only 250' from parking, this cache has a deceptively little approach. Fun though: hopping across the creek, walking above the pounding surf, and climbing hand over hand up the steep loose soil were all a part of my approach. The views were great, and eventually I found the cache, although my first inclination was to search in the opposite direction from where I eventually found it. On the way back I circled around to the north, taking in more of the coastline and eventually following the creekside trail back to my car. Nice! TFTC.

Where Skate and Surf Collide

Great views, warm sun, pounding surf. Thanks for sharing this pleasant spot!

A.I.N.C.

By: Old Trekker and the Czech Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I'm visiting from CA. After climbing over some sort of awning thing and sequeezing between a dumpster and a delivery truck it was an easy find. Cachers are signing on the back of the log strip now...you're going to have to send your son out on a maintainance run in the next few months! TFTC.

Woof and Found

By: fatula Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Lots of dog and humans despite the brisk temperatures. I guess if you've gotta go, it doesn't matter how cold it is outside. Heh! Well, natives probably don't think it's too bad, but for me, visiting from CA with a thin jacket, it was a tad uncomfortable. TFTC!

Micro Park

By: GadzuCrew Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

What a cool neighborhood park! A group a preschoolers were playing enthusiastically nearby. I enjoyed being out of the bitter wind for a few moments, and let the warming of the sun's fingers do their magical work as I relaxed in this little oasis. TFTC!

Franklin Triangle

By: GadzuCrew Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I got my fingers all muddy on this last cache of my little circuit of downtown Philadelphia. Thanks for the interesting diversions during my visit from CA.

Medicinal Herb

By: GadzuCrew Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Yeeesh! Modern medicine is so much more civilized! Fortunately I was a bit anethstetized by the cold weather (being from CA and in a thin jacket!), but I still made this a quick stop and gave thanks for good heath and good fortune as I quickly left. Definitely a place I wouldn't have found without geocaching! Thanks!

CCC4: Let me in

By: Animal Trainer ODragon Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

I loved walking through this neighborhood during my quick tour today. There isn't anything like this back in CA where I'm from. TFTVC!

Center Square

By: UnNamed adopted from GadzuCrew Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

I'm visiting from CA on business. Thanks for getting me out to see this historic building. The widget was pretty flaky behind all the tall buildings, but I persisted and eventually made the find. Thanks!

Hop-A-Long

By: Renyoldman Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I'm visiting from CA on business. Thanks for getting me out and about! What a great park, although the temperature was a bit brisk for my wimpy warm weather tastes! TFTVC.

America's Favorite Cookies

By: Phil and Mady Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Virtual

I'm visiting from CA for work. Thanks for pointing out this very important spot! I've purchased many boxes of these through the years, but never had the willpower to keep them around for very long!

The 555 Club

By: Calkids Difficulty: 4.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Regular

It was great fun to tag along on with a group of 5-digit cachers on the hunt for the final of this challenge. Each of them have proved indispensible on my push to qualify for the club: G V for the use of their ladder, TeamAlamo for the use of his canoe, and bthomas most of all for introducing me to off-roading and taking me along on so many great trips. As every cacher knows, there's satisfaction in the destination, but far better is the journey and the times you spend with people along the way. Thanks!

Island In The Woods

By: Blucruz Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Having run into blucruz earlier, it was fun to hunt for this cache while he watched. Even with the combined experience of the seven in our group, it was still quite a while until the find was made. It didn't hurt that blucruz was there to give a gentle nudge or two either! TFTPC!

dublin canyon stealth

By: clubjackie Difficulty: 5.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Preconceived notions about what the hide would be nearly did us in. The rain and dark hindered a bit as well. A very satisfying find once it came. TFTC.

The Bear

By: old stillwater man Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Out with a group of geocachers from the bay area. Thanks for a fun puzzle in a beautiful area. It was my first visit to the High Lakes area and I enjoyed the opportunity to explore.

the ''real'' bottle hill

By: johnboy67 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

I tried the direct approach, but those buckets were a bit too big. Fortunately bthomas was down below to guide my path as I backed down. The roundabout approach worked easier! Thanks for a great view and a fun cache.

West Branch Feather River 1

By: whitetail39 travler13 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular

Weird how there's a paved road and an industrial strength bridge way out here. Thanks for another cache along the way!

Spring Valley

By: whitetail39 travler13 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Regular

What a great area and a fun group to visit it with. The skies were threatening, but that didn't dampen our spirits or even seem to stop a good number of people from visiting the High Lakes OHV. Like us, I suppose they figured that this might be one of their last opportunities for a while. Coming down to the lake from the summit, I was suprised with the amount of snow. What a pictureseque setting! TFTC!

Devil's Pitchfork

By: scooter08 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

This spot marked our turn off the highway for higher, rockier, and slushier spots. After casting about fruitlessly for a few moments, inspiration finally struck after taking stock of our entire surroundings. Cool! Thanks for pointing out the spot!

High Lakes OHV Area, Morris Lake Overlook

By: Blucruz Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Regular

This cache attracted my attention not only for the opportunity to visit the High Lakes area, but to get one step closer to finishing the 55 5 challenge. Things were going pretty smoothly, but it was amazing how quickly the trail got much, much rougher as oon as we entered the OHV area. There was enough snow to make the steeper sections interesting, but the rock garden and the ledge really got my attention. Many thanks to bthomas for his patient encouragement in getting me past that obstacle. We were stopped a bit short of being able to drive right to the cache by a steep snowy pitch, but it was close enough for the short walk. The views of Morris lake were awesome! and you could have fooled me that people actually drive down to the lake level. Wow! We took a group picture at ground zero that I'm looking forward to seeing. What a great group of cachers! Thanks for placing a cache in this wonderful location and getting us out there to take it all in. It was a fantastic exerience! I dropped an 'extremely challenging' coin. It seemed to fit.

Roll the Dice

By: whitetail39 travler13 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 3.5 Container: Regular

On our way back from High Lakes, this was a must stop locaton. What a great rock! I tried to roll the dice, but luck was not on my side. Heh! We did have the good fortune to meet up with blucruz, who happened by while we were on scene. Thanks!

Chaparral Guard Station

By: whitetail39 travler13 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

It was raining when we found this cache. I would have loved to camp here; it was a perfect spot. In fact, there was a camp fire still smoldering. Thanks!

8 of Diamonds "Inskip"

By: Blucruz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

After our off-road trip, we stopped here to air up. It was raining pretty hard. The locals were burning trash up the road a bit. I guess high fire danger is over now? TFTC.

Philbrook

By: Blucruz Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Pretty area. We were disappointed to find a muggled cache. Thanks for marking many beautiful spots in the High Lakes area though.

Bottle Hill

By: Blucruz Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

A quick find along our way down to Paradise. TFTC.

Hop to it!

By: redvoodoo Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

A quick find while we waited for a table nearby. It was sort of strange though because they had forgotten to turn on the outside lights. We didn't seem to bother anybody waiting in the in-n-out drivethru though.

It's a Small Mall After All #3

By: plunk froggy Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Approached from the wrong side of the fence, but found a couple of access points (...one coming and another going). It was a quick find after that.

I Love This Place (Even More)!

By: Scoobert Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Friday night. Chico. One happenin' place evidently. One of our group went to check on the wait for a table; the rest went to find a cache. Even with six of us scouring ground zero, it took a while to make the find. Finally! I liked the solar panels above the parking lot. Oh, an hour and a half to get seated...we're off to Applebees! Gotta get back to the bay area before midnight.

Sunday Morning Retreat

By: billandlore Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

I was part of the group that found this cache while searching for the final of the 555 challenge. It was a wet and dreary day, but we were having a lot of fun. Thanks!

Why here?

By: Blue iis Difficulty: 5.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Definitely a mind-expanding experience. Twilight was fast approaching and the rain was coming down, which made things more of a challenge. Great job!

Why Do I Geocache? Remind Me!!

By: SNSpencer Difficulty: 3.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Small

Why do I geocache? Well, oftentimes it's to push the envelope on caches just like this one. Driving rain, rushing water, slippery rocks, transposed coordinates...these are the type of things that force you to focus completely on the task at hand. It was great to share the experience with a likeminded cacher, too! Thanks for the fun cache.

Whitney Arch

By: Team Termath Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

By: arnoldbikerider sweetypeeties Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Well, since you've recorded my signature from the cache log, I guess I better make it official on-line too. [;)] Thanks for the explicit hints! After pacing things out in the darkness, our seaerch area was reduced considerably. A good hide!

Rock Creek Palisade

By: The Real McCoy's Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 3.0 Container: Regular

Lots of fun exploring Rock Creek Canyon after a weekend in the eastern Sierra. There were so many beautiful sights, and this canyon was right up there. It's in DeLorme page #122 as well! TFTC.

Rock Creek Canyon Cache

By: The Real McCoy's Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

I saw the turn-off to the cache, but the lag in the widget led me to believe that parking along the paved road was the best. Not! I soaked my foot crossing the stream. Thanks for the adventure.

Cache "Reward"

By: team_indy Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 4.0 Container: Regular

What a great adventure driving into a mine! Thanks for placing a cache to mark this interesting and exciting place.

A Claustrophobic's Nightmare/Just Say NO to Crack

By: Snoogans, MtnFrog Camel Difficulty: 5.0 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Not chosen

It's good to clear up a previous DNF. On my first visit, I wasn't even close. As I was putting the cache back, bthomas said, 'Are you sure it's under there far enough?' and with another slight nudge, we all heard it drop kerplink another foot or so. That led to a hurculean recovery effort and 15 minutes of arguments about whether the rock pile looked "natural" or not after we arranged it so that the cache wouldn't fall again. Heh! Thanks for bringing me back to a really cool place!
