Fowl Language: A chilly morning team-up with crawburr did the trick. She pointed out my clue-blindness at the first stage, but I redeemed myself by coming up with the cache at the end. I really shouldn't have missed that first stage. Thanks for a fun puzzle with some old and new twists!

Later in the day, I went on a group hike down the Los Gatos Creek Trail with SammyDee, Shadow101, Dowbiggin, and tlharrell.

M&J Geobeads #4 - USPC Stamp: 10:31a I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. It was a bit chilly starting out, but the exercise is warming things up. TFTC.

Cache-Fishing: 11:12a I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. The Los Gatos Creek trail is a very pleasant place to hike. TFTC.

Cormorant Feeding Line: 11:31a I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. I noticed some herons and a lot of ducks on our hike today, but the cormorants weren't around. Too bad. TFTC.

Los Gatos Creek Trail: 11:56a I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. Getting ready to wade into the middle of the bushes, Dowbiggin pointed out that it was right next to my foot. Whoops! I love the oldies. TFTC.

Family Beginnings: 12:05p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. Dowbiggin says she politely let me get it. Personally, I think she was afraid of the spot. TFTC.

Slippery When Wet: 12:37p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. Yeah, like the previous cache, I did the dirty work. Actually, I was happy to contribute since others were taking me on a guided tour of LGC trail. The cache container was crawling with ants, and they were none too happy to be disturbed. TFTC.

Tiny Frogs: 12:45p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. This was the best hide of the day, IMO. Nicely done. What a great stretch of the trail. Watching some kids play by the creek brought back some very pleasant childhood memories. TFTC.

Secret Trailhead #9 - Vasona: 1:02p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. The look on Shadow101's face at the conclusion of his 'lesson' was one for the books. A true classic. Update the hint on the cache page and this baby is good to go. Thanks!

Goose Meadow: 1:09p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. Thanks for pointing out this pleasant spot.

GC Rules!: 1:17p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. I really enjoyed this walk; parks are wonderful!

800: 1:32p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. We found this cache nestled safely in its hiding spot, but it's true, there is an undergound beehive very close. Fortunately the insects are pretty lethargic in this cold weather. Probably a good idea to monitor the situation as things warm up. TFTC!

Devoted Cache: 1:52p I found this cache on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks. We definitely made this harder than it had to be. Fatigue and hunger probably played a part. I dropped a TB. Thanks.

Black Gold: Nice suprise! Thanks for pointing out this spot and helping me learn something new about this area.

Secret Trailhead #20 - Campbell: 4:01p This was a cache we missed on a group caching expedition from Campbell to Vasona Parks that I picked up afterwards. It was a bit tricky to find because of some extra camouflage that had been stacked in the area. TFTC.

Cameleon Horse: 8:05a #1 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Sorry, I can't remember what the horse was wearing 'cuz a recycling truck pulled out in front of another speeding 18-wheeler and my life passed before my eyes as I watched the whole horn tooting, tires squealing and smoking affair play out right before my eyes. It was one of those split-second slow-motion affairs.

Cowell Ranch Beach Trailhead: 9:12a #3 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. I've enjoyed several other caches along this trail, so it was a pleasure to make a quick stop for this new one. T: a steel penny...since it was starting to rust; L: a pin of some sort. TFTC.

The End of the Line: 9:29a #4 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Unlike last time, I had the site to myself. I've enjoyed learning the history of the Coastside Railway. Thanks for placing the series.

Mofreekin Cache of the Day!: 9:50a #5 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. A beautiful hike in a scenic spot. Thanks for keeping this cache going geekster!

Who guarded the lure?: 10:05a #6 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Very interesting! Thanks for pointing out this spot.

Pescadero Walking Tour: 10:34a #7 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Thanks for pointing out the interesting history of this picturesque town. Fortunately for me (...at least I think it was...) I was the only tourist around. Perhaps I stood out more while struggling to find the final? In any case, perserverence paid off.

Coburn's Folly: 10:57a #8 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. What a beautiful winter day! I was happy to be out exploring lots of interesting places. TFTC.

A Seat for Cynthia: 11:14a #9 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. What a great spot. The tide was out, so I wandered down on the rocks to explore: Lots of animals to see once you really start looking. The log is full. I'm sorry I didn't have a replacement. TFTC.

Bean Hollow State Beach: 11:22a #10 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Plenty of people out enjoying this warm and sunny winter day, but all eyes were on the surf, making my job a quick one. TFTC.

Pigeon Point Lighthouse: 11:39a #11 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. The lighthouse parking lot was overflowing, so I had to deal with prying eyes at close range. Thanks for placing the cache next to benchmark cover: the curious muggles got an inpromptu lesson on benchmarks, and fortunately for me, never asked about the funny container laying in the iceplant. T: travelling coin; L: A couple of pins. TFTC.

Wilbur's Watch: 12:26p #12 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. What a pleasant hike and a fantastic view. I loved the suprise of a viewing telescope at the top, and spent awhile examining the sights. That's some pretty expensive stone they used for all the culverts along the trail! TFTC.

The Fist: 12:38p #13 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Another spot I wanted to spend more time exploring...but Mr. Smilie is calling me onward. A lady was reading a newspaper in her car closeby and never even looked up at what I was doing. BTW, the log is full. TFTC.

Secret Trail Head: Whitehouse Creek Beach: 12:48p #14 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Watched a guy walk his dogs right by the sign that said 'NO DOGS ALLOWED'. Grrrr. Thanks for the quick find.

Secret Trail Head: Cove Beach: 1:06p #15 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Lots of surfers coming and going. I enjoying walking down the trail a bit to the old bridge and soaking up the sun and the view. TFTC.

Benchmark Z 1241: 1:12p #16 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Yup. Got it.

Secret Trail Head: Whitehouse Ridge: 1:30p #17 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. So, I'm driving up Whitehouse Road looking for the access to 'Fence Posts' (GCR32G), when I realized that I was pretty close to this cache. Okay, so I was waaaay past the supposed Fence Post cache trailhead, but that's the fun of caching isn't it? Thanks for luring me a bit further off the beaten path than I expected!

Lower Vista Point: 2:01p #18 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Haha! You said: "Many switch backs to nicely accomodate the elevation gain"...While hiking it, I was thinking to myself: "If this trail gets any steeper, I'll need ropes to climb it." ...that was until I got to this cache...What a great view! Superb! Breathtaking! I'll remember this trail for a long time to come, and am going to write the following out: Thanks for the cache.

Upper Vista Point: 2:25p #19 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. After 'Lower Vista Point', I really couldn't turn around. Besides that, my as the crow flies distance was only 0.1 mi further than the distance on the trail marker. Well, it was still steep, but the real barrier turned out to be a downed tree that had fallen along the trail. A 3' diameter Douglas Fir has recently snapped off about 50' above the ground and the broken piece (about 150' long!) is laying right on the trail. Bushwacking around was pretty much impossible due to the steepness of the hillside, so I waded along and over the fallen monster. Oh, did I mention that the view at this cache was even better? I decided to turn around here though. I'll leave the other caches for a second visit. Thanks for the wonderful discoveries along this trail.

Candelabra Trail Access: 3:46p #20 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. I love driving on these winding coastal roads! Thanks for providing the chance to explore.

Babbling Brook Bridge: 4:16p #21 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. I had trouble with this cache in the quickly gathering twilight of a winter afternoon. Steep canyon walls and shady spots didn't help, but made the find eventually. I loved the sounds of the water. Very nice.

Elmo's Bounty #18 Revisited: 4:35p #22 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. It was getting dark quickly and I was really worried that I wouldn't be able to find it. Got lucky though. There were a suprising number of people about on this winter afternoon. Thanks.

B. D. Picnic Place: 5:02p #23 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. On my first attempt, nearly dead batteries conspired against me, so I hoofed back to the car and changed them out for a fresh set, which did the trick. Thanks for pointing out this lovely spot!

Cache Me if U Can: 5:51p #24 of 25 on a solo coastside blitz. Well, I'm not really on the coast anymore, and it's way past the time I should have stopped caching, but it seems I just don't know how to quit. I managed to stumble accross this cache by flashlight. I'm sure it's a nice trail, but honestly, the moonlight really didn't show too much. TFTC.

Thornewood's Front Door: 6:14p #25 of 25 returning from a solo coastside blitz. No matter what time it is, you really can't pass up a cache that's only a few feet off your route. Can you? I can't. Thanks for a fun day!

December 27, 2006

Cartridge in a Bare Tree: I got a chuckle out of this one! Thanks for a new variation on a holiday favorite.

Harbor Hide: I knew right where to find it, but only because I've dropped a dime or two on the other side of the fence. TFTC.

Queen of the Irish: Thanks for a fun puzzle and a nice little hike, although I nearly lost my hat in the wind up on the ridge. The next time I see the Lil Checkers at an event I will be paying close attention to what they're doing since I think it will explain a couple confusing aspects of this puzzle. T: green jeep; L: travelling coin. TFTC.

December 21, 2006

Black Mountain Respite: 2TF on the way home in a driving rain. I admired the FTF prize, but left it for someone else since I already have one. TFTC!

Available: Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!

December 20, 2006

5-Field K-Hill: I found the cache by brute force, which you can blame on Walruz. Actually, I've been mulling about this one for quite some time now, but Krypton's booboo had stymied me. Don't worry though, I'm still going to take the hike...there's no way I'd pass up the chance to get a close up look at a ridgeline I've admired from afar for so long. Thanks for the invitation to explore!

December 19, 2006

Veterans Pump Station: I didn't need to enter the coordinates in the GPSr since I'd been intermittently pondering putting a cache in the general vicinity as well. Mine would have been called 'U-Turn Required', though. Upon approach I thought my search was going to be ruined by a SamTrans bus driver who was parked nearby, but it turns out he was asleep on the back row of the bus and not in the front where he could see me. Interestingly enough, there was a fairly nice bike stashed close to the cache, so this area must get a bit of foot traffic. TFTC!

December 17, 2006

A Lady Park Me: Having figured out the twist, it was a quick find. Nobody at work on a Sunday evening, but plenty of traffic. I didn't appreciate that spotlight right above my head, though. TFTC.

Crystal Springs Reservoir - San Andreas rift zone: I've visited the location of this earthcache many times but appreciated learning more about the San Andreas fault. I think I'll re-check our earthquake supplies! TFTEC!

December 16, 2006

The 12 Days of Christmas All Year: Nothing in theme to trade, so I left a TB gift! My New Year's wish is that this cache has a long and happy life. My route to work has me passing withing 50' of it twice a day, so I'll be visiting 'in spirit' quite often. TFTC!

Friday, December 08, 2006

December 8, 2006

Nuts!: I solved this quite awhile back, but the cache got disabled, and I lost my solution. I got back after it last night, and enjoyed my walk to the cache this morning. Due to muggle traffic, I had to blend in, and ended up doing an extra loop. Thanks for the exercise...mental and physical!

Bookworm: Definitely an ahaa moment. When things became 'apparent' I laughed out loud. Very nicely done, and thanks for the chuckle!

Monopoly: Geocaching Edition "Dog": Fun puzzle, pleasant little hike, great hide. Good job on your first cache! That hill is a bit over-rated though! Thanks.

Atherton toll bridge...tunnel...err...channel...: There was a little rain this afternoon, so I can report that the drainage system works. I plan to discover the coins in the cache, and I left an early Christmas present for the cache owner, so hustle on over and pick it up! Thanks.

Telegram from College: Three 'Old Chestnuts' in one day??? Why, it must be Christmas-time! Please, sir, may I have some more? TFTC!

December 7, 2006

Water Related # 1: I knew the place. It's a fun little spot for a cache! Thanks!

December 1, 2006

In The Event of a Water Landing: What a sweet piece of camouflage! TFTC.

November 28, 2006

Other Than My Own?: Based upon a previous puzzle, I knew the type of information I'd be looking for. Things came together quickly after that. Finding the cache was complicated by lingering muggles and abandoned shopping carts. The apparent disuse of the area around the hide made it seem less in theme than it should have. TFTC.

November 27, 2006

Valentine Love Notes: The hike to this cache was quite pleasant under clearing late afternoon skies. Many of my favorite songs are from James Taylor, and the one that reminds me of my wife and best friend is 'Something in the Way She Moves'. TFTC.

November 25, 2006

A hike from Long Ridge OSP to Portola Redwoods SP with Shores Scout.

Grizzly Long Flat Ridge: After dropping a car at the Ranger Station in Portola Redwoods SP, we were back up here to start our trek down through Long Ridge OSP and along Slate Creek. Even at a few minutes after nine, it was still quite cool, but the strong sun and clear skies promised a beautiful day to come. After discussing the route with another hiker, we found this trailhead marking cache and were off on our adventure! BTW, the log was damp and, if there had been room for one, could have used a baggie. TFTC!

Up The Down Escalator: Any lingering morning chill was quickly gone after making the climb along this stretch of trail. Shores Scout and I were grateful for a chance to catch our breath while we searched for this cache. Thanks!

Wally's Cave: We scoured the hillside on the wrong side of the trail, and then remembered we had more than just a GPSr to assist our search. Duh. Just as I was reaching to retrieve the cache, a mountain biker came zooming by, but he was moving too fast to worry about what I was doing! TFTC.

Back Porch: By the time I got oriented as to what was the front and back of the 'house', Shores Scout had the cache in hand. I seem to recall a cache with an identical hide over on Mission Peak! You do get around don't you? TFTC!

Virus Bravo One: This was a great spot to take a quick break in our trek from Long Rigde down to Portola SP. Shores Scout took a few pictures and we caught our breath. After a few minutes, a mountain biker came along with the hugest grin I'd ever seen. We were all having a fantastic time! TFTC.

Long Ridge Vista: Somehow we walked past this cache about 200' before realizing that we'd missed it. It was a very pleasant day hiking and talking with Shores Scout, I guess. Nicely hidden.

Pigs Beware!: Plenty of evidence of piggies today everywhere except in the trap. It didn't look like it had been baited in a while. In fact, one of the panels on the top was missing. Can pigs jump? If so, the trap won't work! Thanks!

Ranch Springs: Interesting spot! We made the loop in a counter-clockwise direction, which, in hindsight, was the right way to do it. TFTC!

Post Pigs Beware #2: Interesting cage, and unique container. I don't think I've ever seen one like it. No evidence of pigs on this visit. Thanks.

Ward Road Border Crossing: Great view from this cache, and we took the opportunity to sit in the shade just above the cache to eat our lunch. For the most part we've had the trail to ourselves today, and it's been a fun adventure. TFTC!

Ward Road Outpost: With the old grass pretty wilted, and the new growth only beginning to sprout, this cache was pretty exposed. I tried to cover it up with a few more rocks since the one we found on it seemed woefully inadequate. TFTC!

Forget Your Pen?: It always helps to check whether or not the next cache along the trail is actually the closest one by looking at the map screen. That way you won't walk right past a cache, standing within 10' of it and not realize until you get 0.25 mile down the trail. The only thing I'm wondering about is why my caching sense wasn't tingling more. I gotta work on that. TFTC!

Check for Ticks: No ticks, but it was dark enough under the trees in the late afternoon that I wouldn't have been able to see them anyway. I had to turn the back light on to start navigating to the next cache. Thanks!

Redwoods: The Next Generation: The cache was pretty well covered with pine needles, but we perservered and eventually made the find. If they had to cut those trees down, it's a shame whoever did left so much lumber behind to go to waste. TFTC.

Clover Forest: For us, this cache was hidden in a very cacher intuitive location and we had no trouble finding it. What a beautiful setting along the creek! It was one of my favorite along the whole trail. Thanks for bringing me here.

Page Mill Site: Thanks for sharing the history of this site and placing this cache. What a fantastic hike along Slate Creek!

Slate Creek Trail Camp: After finding this cache, we passed a couple who must have been camping nearby. They had the place to themselves. Wonderful.

My bark is worse than your byte...mobile: Acutally, it was the bit about the 'Goose Pens' that helped me find it. We had a good laugh. Definitely the most creative hide of the day. The cache is in great shape. Thanks!

Redneck Bellagio: It was about sunset when we found this cache. Even with all the help, it was a bit tricky to find in the quickly fading light. It's been a wonderful day of hiking down from Skyline! While signing the log, we thought we heard people talking in the bushes. It was actually just the circulating water sound. Strange! TFTC.

November 24, 2006

A family outing to San Francisco with a few caches thrown in.

Piering Around: A quick find during our trip to the city on Black Friday. We ate our lunch next to the playground. TFTC!

House of Peace and Grace: A black Friday family outing brought us by cable car to the House of Peace and Grace. We enjoyed trying to identify the stories depicted on the door panels. What a magnificent work of art! The inside was wonderful as well, and there were quite a few people using the labyrinth. Thanks for showing us this place.

S.F. Cable Car - California & Van Ness: We took a Black Friday cable car ride today, no shopping for us! Ted (6) found the cache, and proudly shouted his discovery out to all of us! People looked, but nobody understood. Thanks for the adventure!

At the Pier: No shopping for us on Black Friday: an outing to the City fits our style. There weren't as many sea lions as in visits past, but the number of people seemed to be greater than ever! That's me in the middle with a blue baseball cap holding the GPSr. The rest of the family is gathered around. Lots of fun! Thanks.

November 23, 2006

Mossy Tree: We're out to stretch our stomachs before a big dinner. Thanks for the hors d'ouvre!

Sage View: Other spices were available for the quest, but this one seemed the tastiest to me. We admired the M&J sig item and heartily agreed that San Jose is a pretty sweet geocaching town. Thanks for the nice little hike and scenic view!

Log This Cache: We were out for a little pre-Thanksgiving hike. Thanks for the quick stop along the trail.

Picchetti Peacocks: This was our first visit to Picchetti OSP and we enjoyed it very much. Ted (6) appreciated the opportunity to trade in a well stocked cache. Thanks for a pre-Thanksgiving stomach stretcher!

Lackshore Picnic Cache: After collecting some spice for the quest, we stopped by for this nifty little hide. Interestingly, there was a group cooking their bird over a BBQ grill nearby.

Hillside Destruction: Studying today's hunt on the aerial maps, I noticed the big hole in the ground. I agree. It should stop. TFTC!

Rocky Road: We found it...a little muddy, slightly damp and crawling with teeny-tiny bugs. Thanks for the chance to study the dam!

November 21, 2006

15 caches and about 8 miles on Mission Peak with vaccine and TPS.

Maya Silver: Encounter: I met up with vaccine and TPS for the Mission Peak loop. Things were looking a bit familiar, but it wasn't until we found the Inca Gold cache over the hill that I was able to check the logs and confirm that I had indeed been here before, over 2 years ago. That day was blazing hot, but today was cool and overcast. Perfect! Thanks for providing the motivation for a reprise visit.

Maya Silver: Greed: Yup, the trail is steep. It didn't help that we decided to take a short-cut...straight up the hill. I'll wager we pay for that later on. We found the cache sitting out on the ground, unlatched, but put it back where it belonged. TFTC!

Maya Silver: Betrayal: It fell to me to copy the pictures at each cache in the series. The task was a lot of fun: some physical exertion followed by a little mental effort. A great combination!

Maya Silver: Sacrifice: By this point we were getting to an elevation were we could really see the valley. It was a bit hazy, but wonderful nonetheless. Great views from this...and every cache along our route today! Thanks.

Maya Silver: Escape: I'm going to take the position that everybody's really enjoying themselves when I walk right off the main trail and they just follow on behind despite what the arrow says. Yeah, that or they're severely oxygen deprived. TFTC!

Maya Silver: Redoubt: I'm sweaty and winded, but those million dollar views are well worth the effort. I never knew that there were hillside springs up here. On the way past this cache we past the first of several. Thanks for providing a cache series with such an interesting story line.

Maya Silver: Secrets: This cache was our lunch stop. After translating all of my chicken scratches into coordinates for the final, we ate a shared meal...although I seem to recall that vaccine didn't offer me or TPS a dorrito. TFTC.

Maya Silver: Tears of the Moon: Thanks for a fantastic series! I can't believe you carried that cache camouflage all the way up there. We enjoyed taking pictures and having a glimpse of the backside of Mission Peak. I dropped my swag from Linz in order to fulfill Orient Express Quest requirement #6, and traded for some cool sig items in the well stocked cache. A BIG thanks!

Just A Little Higher: We contemplated the direct route for about 3 seconds, and then contoured around to the next cache, thinking there had to be a longer, but less strenous route. It turns out not! Thanks for the chance to scramble around on top. The coin is missing.

Horse Heaven: I can see how a horse would love this area. I thought it was pretty great too, and especially enjoyed hiking past the hillside spring. TFTC.

Man on a Mission: Once again, I was in the lead and not paying attention to the arrow. We ended up back-tracking about 350' horizontal...and what seemed like 100' vertical. It was nice to find an old cache like this, but it definitely needs a little TLC. Thanks.

Backside of Mission Peak: I guess I'm still tired. Wrote a log for the wrong cache, and had to come back and change it. TFTC in a beautiful park!

Another way up – 2, Lizard’s Home: In deciding to go for this cache, I think we were of the opinion that there might be another way down to the Stanford Ave trailhead. A loop or somthing...fatigue was definitely setting in, and after the find we trudged back up to the saddle to make our descent. TFTC.

Spawning Ground: Of all the springs we saw on today's hike, this one was the most interesting. The crash when that tree came down must have been something amazing, but I suppose the water that provided life for so long was ultimately the tree's undoing. Thanks!

Inca Gold: Stairway to the Sky: Somehow I never logged this cache when we did Inca Gold over 2 years ago. Realizing this, I stopped by and signed the log on my way back from completing Maya Silver. TFTC, and for a couple of superb series!

November 20, 2006

Lockheed Martin Station: A quick find this morning before the fog burned off but after most were at work. I love those warning bells that sound as the train approaches and departs! TFTC.

Before Time: I showed up at about 10:50a and grabbed the cache with no trouble. Retreating to my car to sign the log, I was suddenly stranded by wave after wave of arriving cars...all adults. Amazing! Who knew the early movie was so popular? I didn't. TFTC.

No Right Turn: No vertical challenge here. Busy watching the traffic from the East, I was suprised by a bicyclist from the West. No matter. I covered up just fine. FWIW, it was a 4-pointer to get going back where I came from. TFTC!

The King and Queen Are Sleeping: I guess I should read the cache pages closer 'cuz I ended up on the wrong side of the creek on my first attempt: Blasted autorouter! 75' away but no way to cross. Once I got on the correct side, I did see a potential crossing point about a 150' south. I dare anybody to try it! Thanks for the cache!

Former Ford Assembly Plant: I had to wait out some guy in a truck, which gave me the opportunity to step inside to use the facilities and grab a bite. I also walked right by the display case you mentioned. Very interesting. Thanks for pointing it out!

Shadow of the Tower: Eventually I stumbled on to it. I'm not sure who all these people are you're talking about in the cache description, although several passers-by did look at me with raised eyebrows. TFTC!

Evergreen Sikh Temple: What an interesting spot. I noticed a man leaving the temple on foot. He was wearing the very distinctive chunni (sp?) and had a long uncut beard, but was wearing a suit and tie. Interesting contrasts! Thanks for showing me this spot.

November 19, 2006

The Original "Survivor": Wow, I'm the 4th of four visits today! A very fun puzzle, although at first the coordinates I produced were a reflection of the solution, which threw me for a loop. The final location was familiar, I'm sure I've been here before for several long archived traditional caches. Hopefully this puzzle will last; it's a busy place. I knew Sunday evening at dusk would be a relatively quiet time, and I was right. A quick find. TFTC!

Water Dog Lake #2: Today I decided to take a quick little hike to this cache. It was a misty overcast morning, which made it wonderful to be in the canyon. Afterwords, I followed an overgrown trail down by the creek, which turned out to be quite an adventure! Those hillsides are steep, and with all the PO branches it was a bit like a minefield. Thanks for the fun!

November 14, 2006

Geocachic Park: It took me awhile to make my way through this multi: I needed a three visits and two phone consultations with a previous finder, but by the end I felt pretty darn good about it. There was a little hiccup, however. Approaching the final, I realized that I was going to be in plain view of about a dozen teenagers who were 'hanging out' (if you know the final location, you understand what I mean!) Fortunately for me, though, I didn't need to search for the cache because it was sitting on the ground in for anyone to notice. So, I just picked it up and walked off. The teenagers wouldn't leave, and I had to go, so I guess I'll be coming back for a fourth visit very soon. Oh, by the way, everything in the cache was safe and sound. Did the previous finders forget to put it back? Did it somehow move from it's hiding spot? Only the trees know. TFTC!

November 11, 2006

CloudView Cache: Thank goodnes for a GPSr that auto-routes! Just as you said, a quick find after arriving. Early on a Saturday there were no muggles to contend with, although a housekeeper sitting in a BMW was waiting to go to work...only in Sausalito! TFTC!

THE TROLL- from Aesope's,Three Billy Goats Gruff: Started searching, but attracted the attention of patrons eating breakfast in the nearby restaurant. Fortunately I could retrieve and place the cache out of their view with a little body english! Thanks.

Trailheads Galore!: Lots of activity around this cache on a Saturday morning! Campers cooking breakfast, hikers starting out on the trail, and a bunch of trail runners in some sort of a race. After a night of rain, clearing skies are bringing a beautiful, clear day. Thanks!

Firestone: I've been wanting to find this cache for quite some time, and today turned out to be the perfect opportunity. The clouds from last night's storm had cleared, and the views were crystal clear. I really enjoyed the hike to the cache, and got quite a chuckle when I realized how it was hidden. You've gotta love those old-time terrain / difficulty ratings, huh? Definitely one of my more memorable hunts! Thanks!

Azalea Hill: Mt. Tam was shrouded in fog, but the views were still great on this nice little hike. Great swag! TFTC!

Roy's Pools: A very interesting spot! Thanks for pointing it out.

Cecy's Cache: I had to wait for a couple to finish paying their respects. The way they were poking around the plaque, I almost thought they were cachers...then I noticed the woman dabbing her eyes with a handkerchief. So tragic. The views were great! Thanks for pointing out the spot.

"Another Birthday Bashe Cache" (WSR Turns 2): Cool hide! Even though it's past your 3rd birthday, I took the opportunity to sign the card. Thanks for the party favors!

Elephant Mountain: Cool spot! Knarly spiders! TFTC!

Rouge et Noir: Interesting spot apparently in the middle of nowhere! I stopped for a late lunch. A bunch of workers were busy in the back room making Holiday gift packages. Thanks!

Cache to Eagle #9: The outer container was full of water after last night's rain. The inner container has kept things dry...so far. I'm an Eagle scout myself, and am getting back into things as my twin sons' Tiger Cub Den leader. Time flies!

Vantage Point: I picked up the cache only to discover that about a dozen daddy long-legged spiders were using it as cover...needless to say I yelled and dropped the cache! This was a really interesting spot. Thanks for bringing me here.

San Pedro Box: A nice short hike in the fading afternoon light. Thanks for the oldie!

China Camp Overlook: I loved the views of the bay close to this cache. Thanks!

These hills aren't in Beverly: Nice views, but I really have to wonder why this exit was built. It's a mystery to me. TFTC.

4|23 `/0|_| |337 3|\|0|_|6|-|: Well, it turns out that in actual fact I was seconds from a find yesterday when I sliced my finger. Today I needed encouragement from a fellow finder in order to continue along my previous line of thinking, since it's evident that the way I found it is not the way it was intended. Thanks for a very fun and imaginative cache, both from the perspective of the puzzle and the hide!

November 6, 2006

Cheapco: Definitely a place I wouldn't have visited but for geocaching, so thanks for the smilie!

Urban Beach #2: FTF @ 8:10 am. You know you've been caching a long time when a new cache brings you back to a spot of a former, now archived cache. In the present case it was called something like 'David's decoys', and there were 4 or 5 fake caches with taunting messages like "Try again" or "Wrong!" in them. Just like today, the cache site was always busy with families, and it was tough to search uninterrupted. I think I went back 3 times before I finally found that old one. Fortunately today's find was a straightforward one, and I was concealed from view. Thanks for the deja vu!

November 4, 2006

Another Brick: Thanks for recycling the spot! The innie (...my first sprinkler-head hide, I remember it well...) has become an outie. TNLNSL.

October 31, 2006

Elizabeth's Shortcut: Wow! This location reminded me of a few caches I've done up in the City. I always get pretty nervous in this type of location, and coming around at 7:30 in the morning didn't help! Fortunately, it was a quick find for me. Thanks for pointing out a neat spot!

Edgewood's Front Door: Before arriving, I was pretty sure I knew where this cache was placed. I confidently walked up to the object of interest and promptly discovered that my GPSr was pointing about 150' elsewhere! TFTC.

Howdy Pardn'r: No napping for me, just a quick turn-out with the blinkers on. I paid my respects to the boys, and then got down to business. Prickly! The commuters who passed by probably thought I was there for a pit stop! TFTC.

Middle Sheep Camp Trail: [soapbox]...I suppose you could call the Upper and Lower Sheep Camp caches trailhead markers...but at least they're far enough from illegal parking that you wouldn't risk a dash and grab like I (and several others, evidently) did on this one! [/soapbox] TFTC.

October 27, 2006

Urban Beach #1: I found it, but not before attracting the attention of a trio of 'tweens. They were eyeballing me pretty closely, so I muttered something about finding a lost toy and took the cache with me to run a couple of errands. Coming back 45 minutes later, there they were, sitting on the swings, dragging their feet in the sand exactly like I left them. DRAT! So the cache is still on the front seat of my car. Sorry. I'll put it back tonight. Oh, the green jeep isn't there. TFTC!

October 12, 2006

T in the Road: My jury duty got postponed until the afternoon so I suddenly had some time on my hands, and the baylands seemed like a great place to take a hike. After seeing about ten different types of ducks, I kinda lost count: this place is teeming with birds! What a great place to relax on a beautiful fall morning. TFTC!

East Pond: It seems you've got the the bases covered out here (...well at least first and third!) As Catomcat mentioned in his log, the white pelicans were still present: probably about a thousand of them, truely impressive. As I approached the cache, there was a group of ravens. Each one was perched on top of its own rock pile. They squawked at me, but didn't fly away, and I felt like I was in a Hitchcock film. Creepy. Thanks!

West Pond: I think I walked a bit further today than I thought I would, but I'm not complaining since there was so much to enjoy along the way to this cache. Standing quietly on the levee I could hear the ducks: not a quacking or a honking, but a kind of insect-like buzzing coming from thousands of tiny throats. Fascinating! I had hoped to grab the TA coin, but it wasn't there. In spite of that, I left a rowanf coin. TFTC!

The Functional Bridge: I was passing through on another errand and stopped to grab this cache. Thanks for showing me this interesting spot; hopefully the cache will survive the construction, if it ever happens! Those are 'horse apples' on that tree.

Look Out Below: It took a few minutes of sytematic searching, but I found it eventually. Fortunately, I had a few moments to myself! As soon as I put the cache back, the walkway got busy. Thanks for showing me this peaceful spot.

September 30, 2006

Almost Eden: We were out for a father and sons cache adventure today. Our objective was any cache larger than a micro! John and Ted had forgotten where it was hidden so I let them find it. Thanks for taking over (and improving!) this cache.

Mad House: There was lots going on over on the soccer field, but we were able to find the cache undisturbed. Fun! John and Ted traded, and I swapped TBs. TFTC!

Cache Across America – California: I was out with the boys the morning hunting for larger caches, since they love to trade swag. This one was just the ticket! I was searching an area that I knew made no sense when Ted started shouting that he'd found it. He had...but needed my help to retrieve it, of course. Lots of trading and a bug swap took place. Thanks!

East Evelyn Oaks: The boys love to trade, and this cache was just big enough to keep them interested. Thanks! It appears big changes are just around the corner for this site...hopefully these magnificent trees will weather the transition.

Oreo Cache: Ted (6) found it. John (6) was quite amused with the container. TFTC!

Been Here: Pastoria: I spotted the cache as we drove up, and asked one of the boys to grab it. No need to switch off the car; we're off to the next adventure! TFTC.

Baylands Cache and Carry: I think I DNF'd this cache a long time ago in the dark. I had a couple of helpers today...which made all the diference! Thanks.

Mall Death: It was suprisingly busy for a spot that is in transition, but we slipped in a find. Thanks for a nice big cache!

GeoFusion: We had a little trouble, but made a quick find after checking the cache page. Hmmm, I think it's almost time for lunch. Thanks for reminding us!

Baylands Bike & Bridge: I felt the same as Changes in Latitudes, but then I checked from a different angle. Oh, duh. We enjoyed that little stroll under the freeway. TFTC!

Bridge to the Past: There's definitely something arising from the ashes here, as the demolition crew was hard at work on a Saturday. Even so, the bridge still seems audaciously optimistic. TFTC!

Look, but don't touch: The cache was almost an afterthought, since John, Ted, and I got seriously distracted catching these big green grasshoppers that were along the nearby trail. Cool!

To Breathe Lazily: You're right, it is a silly puzzle, but I ended up enjoying it. Thanks!

The Stinky One: 7:15pm Well, I got some unknown goo on my fingertips, but since I eventually found the cache, it's all good. I sure am glad I had a flashlight, though. TFTC!

September 27, 2006

One equals Two: Yup, got it. I had to brush through over 4 months of spider webs and egg sacs though. Yuck! TFTC!

The Only Way to Succeed: When my nearest page got filled with '?' caches (...except for the 5 kayak ones , which I'm ignoring), I knew it was time to stop passing them by. I solved the simplified version, and enjoyed visiting the park where the cache is located. TFTC!

September 26, 2006

Poetry Corner: I looked at this puzzle again today, and something clicked in my brain. Having made that connection, it was a matter of doing the research, which took quite awhile, and the find, which was quick. Thanks for the nicely constructed puzzle!

September 23, 2006

Game Set Match: Thanks for putting together a fun puzzle! The sets weren't a problem, but making coordinates from them was a challenge, even after a hint from the cache owner. Eventually I got it, and finally made it to the area to pick up the cache. Fortunately it was pretty much deserted on a Saturday afternoon. This was find #1600 for me! Thanks.

Remnants of the Past: I was out today to finish some long unfinished business in El Corte de Madera OSP. What a great trail! The creek is just a trickle and everything is dry and dusty. TFTC.

Banana Slug Falls: It's too dry and dusty for Banana Slugs right now, I guess...I didn't see any on the whole trip. It was a nice spot to take a breather though. TFTC!

Tree with a "V": A couple of mountain bikers came by while I was signing the log. They didn't notice anything though, since their attention was focused on the tree that had recently fallen accross the trail about 100' down. TFTC!

DC-6 Resolution Crash Site: I found the cache pretty exposed, but threw a bunch of extra leaves on it when I was done. With that paint job, it doesn't really blend in too well at this time of year. Thanks for pointing out this spot. I was suprised there's no memorial plaque.

The Tafoni: The afternoon sun through the trees made really interesting shadows on the sculpted rocks. It was fun to visit here again since my first trip predated this cache. TFTC!

VOTE FOR PEDRO!!: I have to admit that I don't get the humor in that movie, but the cache I really liked! That's the last cache I had to find in Corte Madera; can I have some more please?

September 15, 2006

Growing Micros: This was a well-constructed multi-cache, although, like vaccine, I nearly walked away when I realized what the task for the first stage involved. Then, I called him to find out if there was a shortcut. Nope, there isn't. It'll be interesting to see how long this lasts. FWIW, these kinds of situations still make me uncomfortable, and I was glad not to be there during business hours. The second stage was quick and easy, but the third was a bit more challenging because of a temporary obstruction. I liked the final cache container. TFTC!

September 14, 2006

New Vista Park: K-league practice was underway about 20' from the cache, so I had to scan for it from a shielded vantage point. Fortunately, the hide was easy to spot, and when the scrum migrated to the far end, I made the grab. TFTC!

September 12, 2006

Kiss of the Oceans: I was back today for my reprise visit. Except for a few moments of uncertainty searching for 'hearts', things went smoothly. I think the new final location will be much safer, although I did have to wait out a lady who stopped to train her puppy: 'Sit, Rosco, sit!' she said. On my way back to work, I noticed a mural at the corner of Ocean and Junipero Serra that promiently features the sundial. TN, but left a Yellowstone pin. Thanks again for a very interesting and educational cache!

Rock Innie: This cache is near the top of my nearest list, and since I needed a scenic drive to unwind after work, it turned out to be...on the way home.

CM08: I had lock, but the EPE was +/-85 feet. Naturally, I was drawn to the object associated with the cache title, which turned out give me searching fits. After about 10 minutes, I retired to the hood of the car to reconsider the situation, at which point inspiration whacked me over the head! It was my first time on this road, which was quite enjoyable. Thanks for luring me off the well-travelled path!

CM10: Whew! This cache was a toughie, even with the hint. I lost lock soon after arriving, and since I didn't know which side of the trail the hint was referring to, I had to search both. Of course, I spent most of my time on the wrong side. The gathering late afternoon shadows made searching the nooks and crannies difficult, but eventually perserverance paid off. No way I was going to go away empty-handed after coming all the way down to this cache! Thanks!

September 11, 2006

The Five Senses: BALANCE: 2TF @ 8am. I had the kids help me solve this puzzle since I didn't want to over think it. They found it straightforward, so I think you can say that it is 'kid-tested, and, gauging from their interest in several of the pictures, 'kid-approved'. After finding the cache, I made a 7-rock stack. I can see that this little exercise will likely get competitive, so I may have to come back and try for something a bit higher! Thanks, and I'm looking forward to the next edition in the series!

California Ave. Art: Thanks for the tour of California Avenue! Except for a BA employee who was assigned to harrass people who parked in their lot accross from stage 5 (I had decided to do the series backwards), it was quite enjoyable. I quickly found alternate parking close-by and jumped into the task without missing a beat. It appeared to me that you could have added several addtional stages to this cache, but I appreciated being able to just enjoy those without anything to figure out!

Historic Palo Alto (Mayfield) 4: Having already stretched my brain on California Avenue, I figured why not? I recognized some similar information from previous rain734 caches at stage 1, but stage 2 was completely new to me. Although I had seen it from the street many time, I had no idea as to the subject, so thanks for getting me to stop and take a look. I liked the final hide too! Nicely done! A smilely I can look back on with satisfaction.

Play Ball II: What a great place to meet! Here's to many happy days to come!

September 9, 2006

CAUTION DUANE HOPS BROADWAY: Nicely done! This one had me going in circles! I hope it lasts.

Stanford_Wasteland: A quick and simple find. After locating the container, Ted, 6, declared, 'Dad, that's not a small cache!' I'd tend to agree. We'd left the kiddie swag bag in the car, but I was able to scrounge a pin out of my fanny pack so that he could trade.

Tao of Bykenut: Once I got some clarification on the puzzle from another cacher, I was able to solve it. On approach, we ran into atc (Nice to meet you! ). My coordinates had me zeroing in the neighbor's backyard, but we found the tell-tale signs soon enough. Being a large container, I brought the boys along, and they weren't disappointed! Ted traded for the medal, John for a mini eightball, and I exchanged TBs. Thanks for a fun adventure, and, happy belated birthday!

September 6, 2006

RWC Dome: A little caching after the unevent tonight with vaccine and rjb2001. This was a new twist on an old theme! TFTC.

Grapes of Math: I'd seen this vineyard before. It's kind of an oddity in such an urban area. Thanks for bringing me back for a cache! I traded coins.

The Five Senses: TASTE: Nice view! My favorite tastes are in the savory category, shrimp, cheese, and grilled steak, although spicy tastes are pretty good too. One of my favorite dishes that combines the two is Thai curry: red, green, yellow, it doesn't matter, they're all good. There's a really great Thai resturant on El Camino in San Mateo called Chao Praya. Thanks for a great series!

September 4, 2006

BLUFF FALLS CACHE: We found this cache after finishing up our Labor Day weekend of camping. There was plenty of evidence of recent activity at the campsite, but fortunately we didn't disturb anyone. A great waterfall view! Thanks.

A place to recharge: We're headed home from a Labor Day adventure. Thanks for the creative hide!

Are We There Yet?: It's still pretty early into our trip home. Everybody knows we're in for the long haul...I sure hope we beat the rush! TFTC.

The Cinder Stone: We'd stopped here 3 days ago on the way up the mountains, but I forgot to check the GPSr. On the way back, we decided to eat across the street just for variety's sake, and I didn't miss the second opportunity to snag a cache.

September 3, 2006

Eskimo Hill Cache: On our way to hike a place with no caches, and I was getting the DTs! Thanks for the quick fix.

Snowmobile Park Cache: We weren't going to stop, but one of the kids suddenly had to go. No dice...but I suppose the summer months are kinda slow. TFTC!

Highway or Backway: I was pretty bamboozled until I reread the cache description. It seems my head was tilted in the wrong direction. Thanks.

BIG BEAR: We enjoyed the little bushwhack to find this cache. Thanks for getting us off the beaten track!

Rocky Ridge: This cache was an interesting study in contrasts! The first half cool and dark; the second sunny and hot. What an interesting place, and a cache to top it all off! Thanks.

Sleeping Giants?: On our way to hike Cinder Cone in the park, the possibilities of this view point were too enticing to pass up. Thanks for the little hike and the chance to use the spotting telescopes. We overshot the cache a bit and started to search a little ways down the hill, but then adjusted after checking the terrain rating. On the way out, we saw the bumper sticker on a truck that read: 'I'm not a hippie, and I'm not a cowboy. I'm a mountain man.' Perfect! Thanks.

September 1, 2006

Dunnigan, Again: We're on our way to a Labor Day weekend camping trip. Gotta hurry 'cuz the site doesn't take reservations, but couldn't pass up a few really close-by caches. Thanks!

Get Smart: Eyes firmly fixed on the go-to screen, I drove right by the automobile parking...everyone in the car thought I was a bit crazy, but I didn't care. TFTC!

Willows Break - I Hate I-5: Everyone was keen to stretch their legs, but their enthusiasm waned when the thorny weeds started pricking their sandle-clad feet. That left me to make the trek alone. Oh well.

Capone's Cache: Headed to camp at Manzanita Lake, somehow I thought A6 would be a nice little shortcut! Well, it was shorter, but it cost me a package of dramamine to keep the kids' lunches in place. Thanks for luring me on to a less travelled road!

Manton View Cache: Great view! We were glad to be escaping the heat of the valley for a weekend of camping though. TFTC.

August 31, 2006

look out above: 2TF @ 4:45p 'As Seen from the Sky' was my first cache over 3.5 years ago, so thanks for bringing me back to my beginnings! At that time, it was the closest cache to my house in Redwood Shores...things have changed a bit since then. I liked the paint job on your cache! Thanks.

Fangorn: Like Shores Scout, I too had noticed this spot and thought about placing a cache there. Thanks for taking care of it!

August 26, 2006

Trains, Toy Planes, and Automobiles: On our way to 'Little Dinos', we stopped here for a warm-up. There was one quite large plane being loaded into the back of a truck. I suppose they were done flying it. Nice to see a large cache so close and convenient. TFTC!

Phone Home: We were passing by after a trip to the beach. Thanks for the pit-stop in a scenic spot!

Tiny Dinos: With school starting next week, it's the last weekend of the summer. As a result, I was under a bit of pressure to come up with an 'adventure'. Somehow I stumbled on this cache, and noticed that it had been given some attention recently. Everyone got on long pants and sleeves, and off we went. It turns out we didn't need that protection for most of the way since the trail had recently been cut back. (I assume the cache owners were probably part of that effort. Thanks!) The last 200' were a little overgrown, but not bad...I'm sure the story will be completely different in a couple of months, though. We found the cache quickly, and made several trades. Green for white Jeep, CA and KS micro coins for the torn mailer coin, and, of course, toys in and out. This was a fantastic trail. We played in the tree for a long time, and saw all sorts of wildlife along the way. After finishing the hike, we changed into wading gear and played on the beach for the rest of the afternoon. I think my reputation as adventure provider remains intact. Thanks for the assistance!

August 22, 2006

Carlos Theater: I didn't need a GPSr this time...just a peek at the satelite photo was enough to get the job done. TFTC.

Sunday, August 20, 2006

August 20, 2006

Goose for the Gander: Although I managed to come up with a solution, I have no idea what this puzzle is talking about. Perhaps you could enlighten me at a future unevent? Thanks!

Monta Loma: Not really a park hide in my book...more of a hidden walkway cache, but let's not quibble about it. A lady with a German shepard had just passed by when I started my search, and after a few minutes I discovered (...with my hand...yuck!) that the dog had 'marked' the hint item. In anycase, a nice hide in an interesting location! TFTC.

Bus Bench Bogaloo #5: Thanks for the quickie! I took the TB.

They Call This Art?: Sunday night find...the perfect time to nab this cache. Thanks!

10 Essentials: Nobody here on a Sunday night except me and couple of employees from another store rounding up shopping carts, which was just the way I wanted it. ...although, on second thought, I would have like to restock some of my essentials. Another day, soon! TFTC.

Saturday, August 19, 2006

August 19, 2006

HHHH 4 EWE: We arrived on scene, but felt a little inhibited about searching for the cache since neighbor family was out working on their yard nearby. Eventually their 4-year old son came around the corner of the fence to say 'Hi'. 'Do you want to see the sheep?' he says. 'Yes!' say my boys. So he proceeds to rattle the fence and shout 'Here sheepie, Here sheepie!' at the top of his lungs...and, lo and behold, here come the sheep at a brisk trot from the back of the lot! So, we ended up checking out the sheep (who, for some reason were disappointed not to get a treat) for quite awhile during which I managed to spot the cache, and take care of the reason for MY visit! Thanks!

Tennis Court/Putting Green...Here?: There was a family driving a remote control car in the middle part of the lot, but we were able to conduct our search and log behind my strategically placed cachemobile. TFTC!

Welcome Aboard!: No parking issues late on a Saturday afternoon, although there were a couple of people snoozing in their cars in the lot we chose. John and Ted were pretty interested in the object mentioned in the hint and quickly started up some sort of spaceship game while I took care of the cache. Thanks!

Tech Stuff: Nice to see you again, dw! After parking down the street a bit, first we passed a huge spider who was in the process of sucking the life out of a fly and then later a beehive at the kids level just along the sidewalk. We traded a bit, and I took the TB. TFTC.

Wee Willie Werry's Whimsy: Thanks for showing us this park! Arriving on scene, John and Ted made a beeline for the playground, any opportunity for cache swag long forgotten. I wandered off, found the cache, and realized that they were going to want to check this one out! After quite a bit of discussion and negociation, we had our trades worked out, and they went back to the climbing wall for a bit more fun while I finished off the 'dirty work'. Nicely done!

August 17, 2006

Mariner Kakuro: I came up with a solution yesterday, but decided to check with Shores Scout since it looked like it might be a little muddy to get to. He pointed out to me that I had failed to follow all the rules of the puzzle, and that lead me to a logical solution. The cache was a quick find this morning on the way to work. TNLNSL. Thanks for showing me Kakuro!

August 16, 2006

All Tied Up in the Tree House: With significantly less vegetation than during the DNF on my last visit, I walked right up to the exposed cache. Unfortunately, I startled some people who were walking their dogs, and weren't expecting somebody lurking in the bushes. I hate it when that happens. TFTC.

Carl's Cache: I really enjoyed this cache! A beautiful location combined with a somewhat tricky find and retrieval! I really didn't have the right shoes on, but perservered for the satisfying find. It seemed like just the spot to drop my green jeep. Thanks!

This Stop: Arleta!: I found this cache just as the sun was setting. A nice setting and interesting history. TFTC!

Cowell Ranch Beach: I started out for this cache after the sun had set, so it was getting quite dark by the time I arrived on scene. I really enjoyed having the beach all to myself. On the way back, dozens of rabbits had emerged and were hopping along the edge of the trail. Thanks for the adventure!

August 15, 2006

Bacon End: For some reason I thought this cache was going to be hidden on a stairway. I guess I should read the descriptions more closely! For some reason, whenever I cache in McLaren Park I feel like I'm being watched...not sure why. TFTC!

Bart: Glen Park Station: A tough cache to grab during commute time! TFTC.

City Stairway: Valmar: Thanks for showing me this interesting stairway, and associated views. The cache was really visible! I put it back in the same spot, but it's hidden much better now.

City Landmark #78: 2TF @ 5:30p My GPSr zeroed about 50' from where I eventually found the cache, not suprising I suppose given the aerial interference. However, because of that error, I was searching in a place that disturbed Fido across the fence. Then I went back and read the cache description again more carefully, and was able to find the cache in short order. Thanks for showing me this place and sharing the interesting history. I traded TBs.

Peace Knoll: One of six in an after work sweep. After locating the signature landmark...which definitely wasn't what I expected, the cache was a quick find. The fog is rolling in quickly tonight. TFTC.

Tee Time: I made the trek from Peace Knoll. It was a bit steeper than I had anticipated, but, as advised, I stayed on trail and everything worked out fine in the end. I'm still trying to figure out what purpose that cache container served in its previous life. Thanks!

August 12, 2006

Rogue Ramblers' 45-Step Birthday Cache: With 36 hours to think about it, and confirmation from a previous finder that I was looking in the right spot, I returned this morning for a second attempt. That's a tricky little bugger! After making my way through the 45 stages...again, I eventually made contact. Thanks!

August 10, 2006

Let's Play!: I slipped in just before closing time and made short work of it...this time. TFTC.

Wednesday, August 09, 2006

August 8, 2006

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines: No drag-racing today, just jogging and cycling. TFTC.

Which Way?: Wading through the weeds, I got a bunch of stickers on my pants. I was positive the cache would be on the object of interest, but vaccine came up with the find closeby. TFTC.

CLEVER ENDEVOUR!!!: Ditto to all the stuff vaccine said. On top of all that, I was kinda distracted by the Dad with his kids who was watching us pretty closely. Thanks for the smilie.

GBttS # 16 "Baseball Cards & Holly": Thanks for showing us the mural...the trash, weeds, and urine smell I could do without.

Waiting for School: There were lots of kids playing in the park and people out for an evening walk, but we were able to snag the cache during a brief break in the traffic. TFTC.

Children at Play #2: Definitely not what we expected from the cache title! Thanks!

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #12: I think I DNF'd this cache a very long time ago...this time I didn't have any trouble. TFTC.

America's Stars: Prime park time for several families made this cache a challenge to hunt. Thankfully the trees obstructed the key lines of sight for just long enough to score a find. Thanks!

Halfway House: vaccine and I were out for an evening of caching. I think this one was the longest we walked from car to cache...nearly 0.2 miles...whew! What a couple of slackers, huh?

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #37: Well, in contrast to some of the namesakes, one thing we knew was that the coordinates on this cache would be spot on...good thing too, since vaccine read the wrong cache description and told me too look for a decon container. No matter, the cache was in the first place I placed my hand. TFTC.

Gimme Shelter: UC-style: I love the look of a nice fresh log sheet! TFTC.

Hayward Fountain #1: Nice little cache...It gave me a new idea for one of mine! Thanks! First, though, I've got to figure out what to do with that bullet.

The Sixth Sense: vaccine and I were out for an evening of caching in the East Bay and had finished up over there on a DNF. Not wanting to wrap up that way, I suggested that we try this new cache. The views were great and I found four tennis balls before suggesting to vaccine that he shine his light on a spot that, in the dark at least, seemed a bit more than 1.5 stars. Ahh, that's the ticket. No mojo for me, I found it on try #5. Oh, by the way, if you check the trash cans along the way, there's dozens of cache containers waiting to be collected! TFTC.

Monday, August 07, 2006

August 7, 2006

Pelecanus Tomicus: Great view! Thanks for pointing out this spot. I zeroed within 15' of the cache, so, for me, the coordinates were just fine. IN: Benchmark pin; OUT: Heads / Tails caching button; BTW, I found the blatent disregard for the 'No Parking' signs out on the road quite amusing! TFTC!

August 6, 2006

Midway: We biked out to this cache as a family on a beautiful Sunday afternoon. John (6) found the nicly camouflaged cache. Thanks for luring us out of the house!

Pit Stop: The bench was occupied on the outbound trip, so we deferred our search to the return. Unfortunately, the bench was still in use at that point, too, so we stopped for 'a rest'. The muggles weren't going anywhere, but neither were they paying any attention, so I just pulled the cache out. Even the clunk of the opening lid didn't seem to distract their conversation. We went about our business and put it back like they weren't, for all practical purposes, there. If it goes missing, I owe you an ammo can! Thanks.

Saturday, August 05, 2006

August 5, 2006

Bayfront Revenge: I found the nicely hidden cache pretty quickly, but it was jammed into its hiding place so tightly that I couldn't get it out right away. With some sort of a class coming up the hill, I had to abort, and went on to another cache nearby. On my way back, I had the time to work it out. I'm not sure how it got stuck; it was sliding freely when I replaced it. TFTC!

Element #6: Ahhh, yes...carbon. My favorite ingredient. I left a travel bug. TFTC!

Denis Is Not Here: What an oddity! How do you come up with these places? TFTC!

LAH Pathways: Hidden Redwoods: Thanks for the quick little stroll! The location kinda reminded me of one of cooperphoto's caches up in Burlingame.

Waiting for Crista: I had to dodge people starting out and returning from bicycle rides, but it was a quick find. Thanks.

Greenie: I was willing those folks in their car at the light not to look over at me. Fortunately they didn't! TFTC.

Shel Silverstein's story..: Being the first Saturday of the month, it was hazardous waste collection day around the corner. I stopped a bit short and made the quick grab!

2475 Faber: I was distracted by a decoy device around the corner from the actual cache location, but made the find soon after. Thanks!

Shopping by the water: So I drive up, and am greeted by the delicious smell of barbeque...where's that coming from? Looking around, there's a huge grill/smoker attached to the back of a pickup truck a few spaces over with smoke pouring out of the chimneys! Somebody's cooking right in the parking lot! Amazing! TFTC.

The Da Vinci Cache: This was a fun puzzle that I solved a while back, but only just had the chance to find the cache. Very nicely done! I had to wait out quite a few joggers and bicyclists, but enjoyed watching the egrets and sandpipers hunting in the marsh. TFTC!

'belly up": My desire to keep a clean slate finally overcame my aprehension of being caught. Hrumph!

Collete View Cache: For some reason I was looking for something a bit bigger, but PurplePeople's log focused my search. The guy at #18 knows something's up.

Beware of the Horsemen: As I arrived, pdx55 was puzzling over the poor coordinates. Fortunately, I didn't realize this cache was rated 1/1, and started searching agressively. After trying a few likely spots, I stumbled upon the nicely concealed cache. I'm not too sure what the hint means, but perhaps something about koala bears would be more appropriate? Nice to meet you, pdx55! TFTC.

Another visit to Taiwan for production support at SPT: It started out with a typhoon (...only category 1) and ended up with heat and humidity you could cut with a knife. There was lots of long hours and hard work in the middle, and, luckily, one single, solitary cache.

southern taiwan science park: Another visit to Taiwan from the United States for me, and voila! a cache only 1.5 miles from where I'm working. Amazing! So we came over to visit the park and find the cache tonight. The breeze made it pleasant, although I was drenched with sweat by the time we made it back to the car. I found the well hidden cache, and traded three travelling geocoins for one travel bug tag. (If you remember my last visit, I took a TB, but didn't have one to leave in trade...hopefully this visit will make up for that one!) Thanks for the adventure.

Dizzy: An early morning find, but I can feel the heat coming. My GPSr was the dizzy one on this cache. It told me to start searching about 50' from the actual zero, and I had to search a lot of places before found the cache. Thanks!

Bus Bench Bogaloo #1: An early morning cache hunt, but I can feel the heat building already. I dropped a TB. TFTC.

Element #60: I was hoping for a magnet or two, but I suppose that I'm a bit too late to realistically expect that since even the little ones aren't cheap. From one geek to another, thanks for the brief tutorial on magnetism!

Been Here: Elko and Reamwood: Thanks for sharing your trip down memory lane! I found the cache in great shape, and I'm not sure why it has the 'needs maintainance' attribute. Traded pins. TFTC!

Bus Bench Bugaloo #2: Yup, I found the cache on the ground too. Somehow it has gotten wet inside as well, although the log book is still signable. I tried to put it back as inconspicously as possible. TFTC.

Baylands Backdoor: This cache was part of an early morning run after dropping vaccine off at the airport for his WA APE cache trip. Lucky dog! I'll just go melt someplace now. Oh, TFTC!

West Pole: I was early, but not earlier than the crew that was resurfacing the parking lot. All I could think while signing the log was how thankful I wasn't doing that job. Hot, Hot, Hot!

Been Here: Patrick Henry: Nicely done! The best hide of my little run through these Santa Clara office parks. TFTC.

Horace Hawes Fan Club: Got it. If it's in San Mateo County (or close!), then I'm gonna get it. TFTC.

The bus stops here?!: 2TF @ 5:30p. Well, I didn't intend this to be #1500, but having DNF'd 'Kiss of the Oceans' up in SF at lunch-time, that's the way it turned out. Travelling this route twice a day for the last 4+ years, of course I'd seen the bus stops, but never given them a second thought. Quite mysterious. I felt a bit exposed, but no one gave me a second glance, and the milestone was mine. TFTC!

Little Green Bridge: FTF!!@7:55a I have no idea what's going on here, but I really enjoyed taking the scenic route to work today. Thanks for the diversion! TNLNSL.

Pioneers R.I.P.: I stopped by to get cash so that I could buy some coins at the event tonight. What's this...Only 300' from a cache? You can't pass that up! Thanks!

Electro Matic Control Freak: vaccine and I were stumped, but a little begging on the phone saved the day. We knew it was there...somewhere...and honestly couldn't quite believe our eyes when the hide revealed itself. What was it Booger said in Animal House? 'MASTER!!' Amen, brother. I stand in awe...master!

Arastradero Trail Turnaround: A quick find after dark. Even at that hour we had to wait out a couple of cyclists who stopped for a drink. TFTC.

Arastradero Oaks: Cool and quiet! That's the way I like 'em. TFTC.

A cache blitz in the Central Valley with geekster and vaccine. Why we went into that oven is beyond me. Man was it ever hot!

Keep it Moving: After finding a great hide nearby, I thought this would be an appropriate place to drop a travelling cache. There are plenty of routes headed north here, by both road, rail and water. Keep this cache headed on its way back to Oregon!

Roads' End: I think we did 5 of these end of the road caches today. All slightly different, but every time we had to back-track the way we came. Go figure.

Vines N Roses: Since it was the first one of the day, and nothing was open yet, we attacked the area like nobody's business. Our persistence paid off!

Signs and Wonders: Since it appears that this road travels off to nowhere, I'm not sure I understand the significance of the sign. However, given that this is California, I figure somebody must use it to get from here to there. Thanks for the chance to stretch our legs!

Tracy Triangle #3: HOT today. I nearly burned myself trying to sign the log on a sun-soaked guard-rail. TFTC.

Tracy Triangle #4: Thanks for the smilie!

Car vs. Train: Geekster and I decided that the coordinates had to be off and started checking out the area of interest. Vaccine decided to look at the old logs on his PDA before venturing over. After convincing himself we were right, he pretty much walked right up to it and made the find. I think the heat is affecting my brain!

Tracy Triangle #5: I think we picked a good day to look for this cache! There were only about 6 vacant cars in the lot, and a couple of them were abandoned. TFTC.

Lite UP!: Our three sets of trained eyes knew that the area of interest was a little 'stuffed' in short order. Thanks for the smilie.

Fast Food III: I think vaccine was a little perturbed they didn't carry his favorite brand of smokes at the business adjacent to the cache. This ain't the bay area, buddy. Thanks.

Tracy Triangle #6: 3 parking spots with NO PARKING signs in the middle of nowhere. Fish me a cache! Thanks!

Tracy Triangle #7: Geekster explained to me about the business at this cache. It might be nice to pay your fuel bill once a month...on second thought, that might be quite a shock.

The bridge: Yeah, like vaccine says, the GPSr was kinda squirrelly here. Eventually it settled down and I scooted out there to make the find. TFTC.

The Down Under: I think I might have been the only one in the group with a reach long enough to make the grab. When it was all over, I ended up with grease and spider-webs on my hands, but it was well worth it! A great hide! Thanks!

Don't Panic: What a hoot! Thanks for pointing it out.

Steeeeerike Three!: Not wanting to walk too far, it seemed like we spent more time driving around the area than hunting the cache. Eventually we got it.

Stonebridge: I found it. Spider webs don't bother me.

Woodfield Park: This park appears to be a bowl. Does it fill up with water after it rains a lot? Like vaccine said, I was really careful to put the cache back where it belonged...I think I flipped it over my shoulder as we left. (...just kidding...) TFTC.

A Cache For JerryW: At this cache I'm afraid I was more interested in figuring out what kind of trees were all around. Walnuts right? TFTC.

Paris Piglet of Liberty: Pretty swampy at the cache site today. I think the sprinklers were on a bit too long. With all the little bits and pieces in this cache, we took quite a while putting it back together. TFTC.

Movin' Dirt 2....Caterpiller Inc.: Having lived in IL for a good portion of my life, I always thought that Peoria was where it all started. Thanks for filling me in on some more of the history.

Old Cache Renewed: Thanks for the smilie. That's mjp303 speak for 'I don't remember a single thing about your cache.

Shalom!: Interesting place. Right or wrong, I associate Jewish life with big cities, and so it was quite suprising to find this place out in the middle of nowhere. Thanks for lifting my horizons!

Wishin' I Was Fishin': After scaring off the guppies, we make a quick find. Nicely done! TFTC.

MANNNN-Teca: Yes, the desire to avoid walking further than necessary caused us to drive around quite a bit. Finally we just sucked it up and got the job done. TFTC.

End of the Road #58-Brunswick Road: I felt bad for that horse, tethered to the fence in the blazing sun. I think somebody was hoping he'd eat some of those nasty weeds in the ditch. What the h-e-double toothpicks was winini doing out here at 3:24am for an FTF??? TFTC.

Springtime Park: I cleaned the earwigs out of the cache, and took that little robot/alien figure for my trouble. I liked the way you attached the cache!

Delta College Farm Lab: It seems everyone's got an internship this summer. TFTC.

End of the Road #60-Junction Drive: The heat was really starting to get to us on this one. I wandered around in the hot sun for about 5 minutes too long. Finally geekster put us out of our misery.

End of the Road #61-Old French Camp Road: #61 huh? Does that mean there are at least 60 more? Thank goodness our auto-routing software knew about this one. TFTC.

Stumpy 2: I've never seen a cannon quite like that one! TFTC.

Park View Cemetery: There were a couple of possibilities, and I chose wrong. A solumn place. TFTC.
