The Soda Lake Road Once

By: TerryDad2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

I have to say that I was a bit confused by the title of this earthcache, but once on scene it all made sense. A series of storms had passed through in the days before I arrived, and there were many places where it was evident that water had washed across the road leaving sediment a bit further downhill. Thanks!

Carrizo Plain Sag Pond (one of many)

By: TerryDad2 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Not chosen

Recent rains had left the sag pond full of several feet of water, and the grasses were were starting to sprout and turn the hills vibrant green! Lovely. Thanks.

Lucky Antelope

By: elrojo14 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Ditto to the previous log. I found the cache upside down on its lid, which is a recipe for leakage. I suppose most of the year it's pretty dry out here, but lately not so much! I tried to improve the situation by putting the container upright and concealing it with rocks. This is page 114 of the Golden State DeLorme challenge for me! TFTC!

GZ felt like I was in somebody's backyard, but looking around I figured they probably wouldn't notice! hehe.

The Junction of Soda Lake Road & Panorama Road

By: elrojo14 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

Ahhh, wide open spaces. Gotta love the clear views and clean air. Thanks for bringing me along this road!

In a Bush

By: elrojo14 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Recent rains have made everything bright green. Clear and comfortable temperatures today. I don't think I'd want to be out here in the Summer though. TFTC.

KCL Rocks

By: gsmX2 with Badfeet Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Interesting old water tank! I was tempted to take a side trip up the road to check things out, but was running a bit late. Next time! TFTC.

An ode to Nudecacher

By: elrojo14 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

That's quite a cache! And a very inspiring view! Figuring that I couldn't improve on nature's glory, I decided to pass on any photographs au naturel. Sorry. [8)]

Who Was Don Pedro Fages?

By: johnislost Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

There is a shotgun shell of the same color referred to in the hint in a very conspicuous spot near GZ. Really threw me for a loop. Until I stepped back to survey the scene, I was convinced the cache was missing. heh! Thanks.

Wine? No!

By: gsmX2 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Hwy 33 is really a nice drive...too bad the road is closed further south! I would have loved to drive it all the way to the coast. TFTC.

A Bigger GPS!

By: Hedge Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

I was looking harder when I really needed to look smarter. Standing up to take a break, the cache nearly smacked me in the head! TFTC.

"Thelma get in the car!"

By: Kellann & elrojo14 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

No sunbathing today! Snow everywhere around the pool. Thanks.

Check Your Brakes

By: jaegermann Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I felt a bit strange over there by the cache, but nobody gave me a second glance. Thanks!

Frazier

By: MightyDee Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

A quick find passing through on my way back to LA. Hoards of folks flocking to the snow. Evidently it's a status symbol to pile a bunch on top of the car and then drive back into the city. TFTC.

Keep on Truckin'!!

By: Skeleton Crew Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

With recent storms, plenty of folks about enjoying the snow. I stopped in for a drink, but passed on the gas. TFTC.

Business District

By: ozzyemm Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I took the liberty of replacing your cache; hopefully you won't mind. Along with the other cache in town, this is one of two caches on the northern side of Southern California DeLorme page 75. As such, it may be useful to those crazies like me who are trying to finish the SoCal DeLorme challenge (GC18M1N). I enjoyed the town, but quickly moved on to other out of the way places!

"D"itch Stop

By: BooBooBee, Baby Boo and Eekuh Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Recent rains had soaked the log. I carefully unpeeled a page and signed with my sharpie pen. Thanks for pointing out this nice park!

Grape of the Basevine

By: Ryan and Zulema Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Regular

Interesting spot. Not too muddy in spite of recent rains. I heard lots of engine brakes whining in the distance. TFTC.

Ventura Highway

By: bthomas Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Tracking down bthomas caches is always a pleasure. I did a little maintanance as the words of the song echoed inside my head. Thanks!

Southbound US 280 Exit 24

By: kbseydel Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

A little early on my way to pick up daughter from her riding lesson at Webb Ranch, so I stopped by. Strange little road to nowhere apparently. TFTC.

Levee Run - Alameda Creek

By: csolsen Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Wheeling, not running for us, but we still enjoyed the creative cache camouflage. I was looking in more trollish spots when bthomas gave the victory shout. Thanks.

Levee Run - Rest spot

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

Great views from the cache site. Thanks for bringing us to this vista point, and TFTC! The container seemed a little exposed, but I suppose the plants will fill in soon enough.

Come Visit Quarry Lakes Part 3

By: davethis Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We stopped on the high side, but quickly realized that distance to zero was greater than EPE. Coasting around and down was easy, grunting back up the hill to the creek trail, not so much. TFTC!

Come Visit Quarry Lakes Part 2

By: davethis Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We quickly realized that the cache title meant that we were on the wrong side of the fence, so bthomas retraced his track a bit while I stayed put to 'supervise'. TFTC.

Go Take A Walk

By: beck1980 Difficulty: 3.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

So we've made our turn around and are heading back to the starting point at Isherwood. Most of the caches are on the north side of the creek, so thanks for this one to keep us going.

Happy Birthday JoeSpaz #38

By: WalruZ Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

Ah yes. JoeSpaz, truly a man ahead of the curve. Thanks for turning the dial on the way-back machine for me!

Alameda Creek #3.1

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

We scrambled down to a find, and gave thanks for dry weather the last few days. TFTC.

Model Mariners

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

Calm and quiet for us. No battles, real or re-enacted to be found. TFTC.

Alameda Creek #2

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

We left our bikes up on the trail and made the short descent to grab this cache. Lots of hiding possibilities but geosense eventually prevailed. TFTC.

Alameda Creek #1

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

A nice place for a short break, although we didn't have the place to ourselves with a sorry looking fellow hanging out a little further downstream. TFTC.

Leash Required

By: F.A.M.E. Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Not chosen

On a bicycling tour of the upper end of the Alameda Creek trails. This was a quick stop before crossing back and returning to the vehicle. Thanks!

ISHERWOOD IF YA WOULD

By: CALHUNTER Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular

Just bearly got the bikes up to speed before bthomas and I were stopping for this cache. There was a little bit of uncertainty in our minds as to which side of the fence would be fruitful, but our questions were quickly resolved. TFTC.

SciFi kids

By: Claire (maintained by WalruZ) Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

A great view of the area! Thanks for keeping this oldie going.

Levee Detour B

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Was there really 500' from A to B? I suppose so, but it didn't seem like it. Hopefully the replacement cache will have long and sucessful life. Thanks.

Levee Detour A

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

A fresh log sheet welcomed us at the conclusion of our search. Thanks for the roadblock!

Just Strolling Along 1

Felt lucky and got lucky! Thanks for the smilie!

Isherwood Staging Area

By: geocasual Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

A pleasant winter afternoon for a bike ride. bthomas and I started our loop here, first travelling in an easterly direction and winding up with about 10 miles on both sides of the creek by the time the loop was done. TFTC!

Alameda Creek #4

By: Blanston12 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Just passing by, so we thought it was a good idea to stop! Thanks.

Levee Bicycling Isherwood

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Micro

bthomas was the cache monkey on this one. The mom and kids that passed by sure gave him look: he had opted to remain in place while I signed the log sheet. Heh! TFTC.

Levee Run - Open Space

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Nifty little hiding spot. I'm glad I didn't have to reach in there after a rainstorm though. TFTC.

Levee Run - Dogs Barking

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular

We were moving along quickly in the fading light. Chow time for the pooch I suppose. TFTC.

Below the Buckeye.

By: Allannah and Grimlaf Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Small

bthomas and I spotted DragonsWest on approach. I gave him a wave with the widget and his look of suspicion melted into a smile. Nice to meet you! TFTC.

Levee Run - Dog Walkers

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Besides us, there was a family out for a walk. We all were enjoying the late afternoon sunshine. Thanks for the cache and the opportunity to explore this trail.

Bingo! Thanks for the quickie, and the last of a successful day. TFTC.

Man's Best Friend

By: shell165 Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

It was pure luck that I found this cache in the dark! Thanks.

Bullseye

By: shell165 Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Micro

I put my hand on the cache container but didn't realize what I had for a second or two. Getting dark, and we don't have a flashlight. Thanks.

Levee Run - BART View

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Lots happening for us at this cache. The policeman asked us what we were looking at, and bthomas seemed at a loss for words so I quickly piped up, 'Ducks!' The officer seemed disappointed somehow. Amazingly, a private security vehicle came by not two minutes later. Fortunately I had just enough time to sign the log and get it back in place between the two visits. TFTC.

Under Carriage

By: geo starlight Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

This place seemed interesting to me. Unfortunately I couldn't find any marker or plaque explaining things, so it's a mystery still. TFTC.

Levee Run - Niles 3rd St

By: csolsen Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro

Those hills over yonder just keep getting closer and closer. Ah well, just keep moving until we find a bridge to cross the creek! TFTC.

Levee Run - Niles Park

By: csolsen and katelynwill Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Small

Oh look! Another treasure chest on my map! Thanks for keeping us going!

Levee Run - Dog Owners

By: csolsen and katelynwill Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 2.0 Container: Micro

No puppies today. This cache was an easier find after experiencing another similar one previously along this same trail. Nicely done nevertheless!
