Day 1 of our 'over the river and through the woods' jaunt. We've never been on Hwy 178 before, but really enjoyed being a bit off the beaten path. Thanks for the pioneer cemetery cache! One of my favorite types. mjp303

Thanks for pointing out this cinder cone volcano. We enjoyed learning more about the geology of this area. Glad we didn't have to climb to the top! Thanks, mjp303

Fantastic earthcache! The potholes looked quite out of place in this now arid location. We really enjoyed scrambling around on the rocks. Thanks, mjp303

What a interesting place! I've been close-by several times, but never took the time to stop. It was fun to imagine the water swirling and crashing over the rocks. TFTC! mjp303

Pleasant mountain drive on our way to Death Valley and beyond for Thanksgiving. Always good to get off the beaten path a bit! This stop was the high-point (literally) of a day that included a visit to Badwater and everything in between. TFTC! mjp303

We stopped on our way into Death Valley. Thanks for teaching us about all of the amazing geology in this beautiful place. While figuring out the answers, a retired coal miner struck up a conversation and pointed out even more to us. TFTEC! mjp303

A trip to Death Valley wouldn't be complete without a stop at the Dunes. The kids were determined to hike out to the tallest dune, but quickly got tired out. Jumping off of a smaller dune was plenty fun! Thanks! mjp303

Zabriskie Point was one of our favorite places to visit in Death Valley. We arrived close to sunset, and the colors were fantastic. Thanks for the geology lesson! mjp303

This spot was definitely the highlight of our visit to Death Valley. The light was fantastic just before the sun dropped down below the Panamint mountains, around 4:30 on this short winter day! Thanks for pointing out the location! mjp303
