Our group definitely considered itself 'lucky' to have made a find on this evil cache. What a strange spot though. I guess the potential for quite a bit of water exists here, but at the season all we saw were weeds.

Seven Acres

I've never seen a blinker without a magnet, but that's what I found in the dirt. I put it back in a rather precarious perch, but it was the best I could do. While we were struggling with the log, bthomas looked through the window of the cafe and noticed a bill dated from 2005. Tough times around here...TFTC.

Autorouting is usually pretty dicy for cache locations like this since it makes no distinctions between the maintained and not-so-maintained forest roads. No matter, we enjoyed a few bumps and brushes in the jeep. This was the first of many historic trails markers along our route. The bonus was that this one had a cache nearby. Thanks!

My pocket query was a little dated, so I didn't know about the 3 recent DNFs. That probably would have discouraged me. I suppose got lucky looking in the right place! Fortunately the container doesn't have any camouflage tape on it. That would have really made it invisible. I was happy that the cache was hidden in a quiet corner of the park. A fe w streets over soccer practice was in full swing. Thanks.

Cache Challenge 1

Just after I retrieved the cache, signed the log and started over to replace it, a string of people came down the trail. I had to wait about 10 minutes while each group took a break, studied the map and then slowly headed out. It was a popular spot! I think they might have been wondering why I loitered about for so long! TFTC.

This was a great spot to take a break before making the trek back down the Crystal Springs trail. I passed several other groups of hikers, but it was still very peaceful and quiet. Thanks for getting me out on the trails on a beautiful Labor Day.

Out for a hike in Huddart Park on a beautiful Labor Day with my new CO GPSr. This was the first field test under fairly demanding conditions with lots of tree cover and a steep hillside. I don't think I've ever done a letterbox hybrid / multicache combination before, so it was a new and fun experience!
