More remote country! What a beautiful canyon. I loved looking at the river down below, but the narrow road, high cliffs and noticible absence of guard rails led me to do it while the vehicle was safely parked! TFTC!
Red Bank Cache

bthomas and I really enjoyed our time on this remote road. Thanks for placing a cache for us to find.
Road To Deacon Lee

The grab on this cache was a bit nerve-wracking since I nearly dropped it down below! TFTC.
Jump Off Joe
By: jewels57 Difficulty: 1.5 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
Thanks for the history of this place! The log sheets were damp, but I spread them out on the very warm hood of my Jeep (...it's a steep climb along this stretch...), and they were much drier when I returned them too the container. TFTC.

Thanks for pointing out this interesting monument. I picked up the object that hides the cache and found a lethargic garter snake curled up around the container! It gave me a start! TFTC.

We thought we were going to get stiffed on this cache, but then saw a second object that matched the hint. Whew! TFTC.

Neat sculpture and fun hide! I laughed out loud. TFTC.
Stickers, Weeds, and Shasta
By: ChrissySkyking + Blaze Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Micro
The rest area appears to be open now, although there is no landscaping in many places and there are fences protecting the bare ground. We were able to take a meandering route to the cache and make a quick find. Thanks!

The snow is gone, and we were able to move the object that was pinching the cache. Thanks for a quick find after a couple of DNFs.
Yellow Jacket

[8D]FTF[8D] with bthomas. We thought we were going to be able to drive a little further, but a snow bank across the road stopped our progress a couple of tenths from the cache. Hopping out of the vehicle, we noticed a set of large paw prints in the snow. Oh Mah? Couldn't be, since it's the middle of the day. Walking for a moment more, we saw the black bear rolling around in the snow about 50 yards off. I froze, but bthomas stepped forward, with camera clicking. What a magnificent animal! It was my first opportunity to see a bear in the wild. The whole encounter only lasted a few seconds, as soon as it saw us, the bear lumbered off in the opposite direction. It's a sight I won't ever forget. Somehow it wasn't suprising to see a bear on Yellow Jacket Road! We never saw any evidence of bees (...or honey) however. BTW, I loved the camouflage on the cache container! TFTC.
Coons' Hollow
By: ouzels-R-we Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.0 Container: Regular
This was a neat little spot. It seems to have been cleaned up, or perhaps winter storms have scoured the debris away. The fish ladder was interesting. It's amazing to me that they make the trek back at all. The cache seems to have been muggled, but we provided a replacement. It's tucked away in a little hollow at the base of the stump. TFTC.

Thanks for the interesting virtual cache. bthomas and I enjoyed finding caches in this guy's stomping grounds!

bthomas and I were on our way up the hill on the way to remote and far away spots. Thanks for the steping stone!
CREST CACHE
By: Ca_Surveyor Ali Difficulty: 1.0 Terrain: 1.5 Container: Regular
I thought it would be even money the cache was still covered with snow. bthomas, however, confidently struck out to find it. His hunch that it would be snow free turned out to be correct, but we had a lot of fun sliding back down to the road after our find. TFTC!

I was with bthomas. It's true, we did stop at quite a few cemetaries. Fortunately for me, most of them had a cache! Thanks!

First cache of the day, we walked over from the motel. WOW! What a place. Thanks for pointing out this magnificent building. Now, off to hunt DeLorme pages between Eureka and Yreka. TFTC!
Pollocks Gulch

[8D]FTF![8D] with bthomas. This cache has remained unfound for quite awhile, probably rightly so because of its remoteness. Nevertheless, we felt fortunate to have arrived first. Thanks for pointing out Yellow Jacket Road, and this pleasant stopping place along the way to the top.
On the way to Pony Peak
By: MotorBug Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
I was suprised to see a familiar name as the owner of this cache! Thanks Tom. The gate was locked, so we took a quick walk and stretched our legs. It would have been a fun trip to the top...perhaps another time. TFTC.

By: humboldt flier Difficulty: 2.0 Terrain: 2.5 Container: Regular
The gate was still locked, so we humped it up the hill. Several downed trees impeded our progress; there is some work to be done before vehicles will be able to make it past those obstacles. Thanks for getting us a short ways up the trail!
Troubled waters

We found it about 50' from our zero. I felt bad tromping all over that steep hillside. TFTC.

That's a pretty good sized 'micro'! Jumping to conclusions about size and hints had me looking in a completely wrong spot. Eventually things worked out. I loved the view! TFTC.

bthomas and I were racing the setting sun to get to the correct spot for the photo. As you can see we were just 5 - 10 minutes too late. It was a fun ending to a wonderful day chasing DeLorme pages across the northern part of the state. FWIW, the rest area is now open, although most of the landscaping still needs to be put in. Thanks for the earth cache!
