Without Pier

By: CKayaks Difficulty: 2.5 Terrain: 5.0 Container: Small

After missing out (again!!) on a REI sponsored GBA kayak trip, I knew I had to take matters into my own hands. Borrowing a canoe, mrs303 and I had a very pleasant tour of Redwood creek, slough, and harbor. We arrived pretty much at high tide, which was listed at 4.2', so not the highest of the day, but just right to fit the canoe under the pier and easily reach the cache. Any higher and we would have had to duck a bit. I'm sorry to report that the tether has rusted away where it attached to the box. We had to replace the cache untethered on its little shelf. How long it had survived untethered is unknown, so hopefully it will stay there until maintainance can be done. Thanks for luring us out on the water for a great experience and for a fantastic cache.

Number 2 on our canoe tour. The water was like glass, and perfect paddling conditions. We found the cache quickly and were able to reach it without trouble: right at eye level! TFTC!

Lots Of Juice

Number 3 on our very enjoyable canoe trip around Redwood City harbor. We only saw a couple of other boats during our trek: one was a fellow in a row-boat carrying a bike(?!?). There were plenty of pelicans near the cache site, we felt bad scaring them off. The cormorant nests on the power tower were full of babies, and the adults enthusiastically scolded us while we signed the log. Thanks for a fun cache!
